The Planes at Maho Beach

Most people go to the beach to relax, watch the sunsets, feel the sand between their toes, the cool water on their feet… but at Maho Beach on the island of St. Martin in the Caribbean, you can get an extra thrill:

The short runway at Princess Juliana International Airport means the planes have to touch down starting really close to the beach:

The planes pass only 10-20 meters (30-60 ft.) over the tourists, but so far there have been no records of major incidents at the airport.
